This formed the basis of the Final Major Project for Ben at University in Carlisle. A take on the traditional Model Village tourist attractions, which tend to be nostalgaic in tone, the project instead documented a miniature dystopia which was inspired by contemporary politics of the mid-2000's.

Where in a ‘real' model village there might be quaint shops, cricket pitches and thatched cottages, Britannia instead was set in an alternate-universe dystopia vision of Cumbria and featured miniature acts of police brutality, CCTV cameras, a militatised state, urban crime and graffiti.

The body of work was a combination of home-made model buildings, customised miniature figures and vehicles, home-made propaganda and advertising posters, and supporting literature. The photographs were shot at a variety of locations in Cumbria, the Midlands, and Wales, and the final project was exhibited at Carlisle at the end of Third Year. Subsequently images from the show were displayed elsewhere, and the project evolved into the “Century Survey”(Steampunk) and “Intercity” experimental series.
