A large-scale investigatory project by Amy, started in 2004, the body of work was an attempt to record the surviving E.W.S signs of Carlisle, where she was at University.

Once common to every major town and city in Britain, the E.W.S markings denoted the location of Emergency Water Supplies for fire-fighting in the aftermath of air raids, and date from the earliest days of the Second World War. Most such signs have long since faded or been painted over, but Carlisle seemed to retain a far higher number than usual surviving and seemingly forgotten about, left to fade away on the sides of shops, houses, and bridges.

In the mid-2000's Carlisle was preparing for a massive planned scheme of regeneration and new building works, and Amy suspected many of the E.W.S signs might be lost. Over a process of 18 months therefore Amy explored the city, locating and photographing as many of the surviving signs as she could find, creating a body of work which documented these rare surviving markings, and which culminated in a series of prints and a self-published book.
